New magazine launched for teenagers

Tuesday, September 18, 2007

The constant challenge to provide RE resources which are sound yet which reflect today’s world can be daunting for even the most resourceful school. A new magazine has been launched which talks to teenagers in their own language!

Face Up magazine is a unique publication which connects the principles of our faith with the lived experiences of Ireland’s teenagers today.

Face Up is constantly revised and updated and is a magazine that has built up a reputation as an invaluable resource for post-primary schools throughout Ireland:

“I have been using Face Up for over 3 years and find it wonderful for classroom discussion.”  (Religion teacher)

“What I love about Face Up is that it treats us like mature people interested in serious issues.” (5th year student)

Each month Face Up seeks to inform and entertain on religion, personal development, social awareness, and justice issues – all considered in the light of Christian principles and belief.  There is a monthly Special Report, which takes a look at a topic of concern to young people.  Face Up examines topics such as depression, bullying, self-esteem, sexuality, work, family, violence, death and suicide.  With a strong input from young people themselves, the tone is not preachy or patronizing but conversational and engaging, in a language the reader understands and can relate to.

In addition, schools subscribing to Face Up receive, absolutely free of charge, a separate Teacher’s Guide packed full of ideas to help you make the best use of the monthly Special Report.  Written by a teacher, this guide is guaranteed to make your work much easier.
