St Brigid’s High School has achieved its best ever examination results.
St Brigid’s High School has achieved its best ever examination results. Fifty nine per cent of Year 12 boys achieved 5 A*-C GCSE grades compared with the previous record of 44% in 2006. Ninety four per cent of the boys achieved 5 A*-G in GCSE grades showing that the school’s policy of “no child left behind” is working.
The excellent examination results achieved by St Brigid’s High School have been recognised by one of America’s leading business executives and a friend of N Ireland. Tom Moran has played and continues to play a significant part in building collaboration among all the various parties involved in Northern Ireland politics. He works behind the scenes and retains the view that the only way for Ireland to grow, economically and socially, is through peace. He recently hosted a delegation from Northern Ireland at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.
Tom Moran, CEO of Mutual of America, one of the largest insurance companies in the US praised the Armagh school’s success:
“During my trips to Northern Ireland over the last decade, there have always been questions about the future of the North of Ireland and its ability to compete in a global marketplace. The positive examination results for St. Brigid’s High School proves that caring parents and teachers along with a dedicated group of hard working students can assure all of us that the future will be bright. I extend my heartfelt congratulations to all involved in this wonderful achievement.”
Principal Enda Cullen commented:
“I am delighted that the students’ enthusiam, commitment and hard work has been rewarded by these outstanding results. I would like to congratulate all all of the students on their tremendous achievements and join with them in recognising the support, encouragement and high quality teaching that they have received from the staff at the school. We are very fortunate in having so many excellent teachers who dedicate so much of their time in helping all the students to achieve their potential at St Brigid’s.
I would also like to thank parents for their support and the local community that has provided work experience and encouragement for our boys.
It is rewarding to see the hard work of our students and teachers recognised by Mr Moran.
While there is much to celebrate, the school will endeavour to further improve the educational opportunities for our school community”.
