The building work completed today (25th May) at St Mary’s Primary School, Portglenone, for a new replacement building and facilities.
The Down and Connor Diocesan and De La Salle Public Private Partnership (PPP) project, commissioned by the St MacNissi’s Trust, has delivered, on schedule, a school and nursery unit for the Catholic Maintained sector.
Speaking about the completed project, Gerry Lundy, Head of School Planning and Development for CCMS said: “This construction programme represents a significant investment for the local community. It exemplifies the Trustee’s commitment to a shared vision which seeks to provide the school, its staff and pupils with modern learning facilities and meet the educational needs of the pupils in the Portglenone area.”
According to the Principal, Briege Milner, “This is a fantastic addition to our local school community. We are delighted that the construction project has completed on schedule to provide modern facilities for our pupils and staff. Pupils will now have the opportunity to avail of state of the art buildings comprising new classrooms, a multi purpose hall and a Nursery Unit. This investment for Portglenone is greatly welcomed and will surely enhance the education experiences for the young people in the area.”
The PPP consortium, which delivered a design, build, finance & operate approach, comprised of O’Hare & McGovern, the main construction contractors, and Interserve Facilities Management Ltd who are providing the management facilities services.
