The Northern Ireland Commission for Catholic Education has launched a new training and development initiative which it believes will provide a clear vision and directionfor every Catholic School over the coming years.
‘Catholic Education – the Vision’ was officially launched by Archbishop Sean Brady at a major seminar and training day for Catholic Educators at the Glenavon House Hotel in Cookstown.
The Commission, which represents the Religious and Diocesan Trustees of all Catholic Schools in Northern Ireland, has taken a lead role in developing a strategic approach to the current changes that affect education here.
As part of their strategic approach, the Commission have launched the Catholic Education – the Vision initiative, whichinvites every Catholic school to come together to understand the importance of:
Today’s launch is the first time that the Northern Bishops, the senior diocesan and religious trustees and key educationalists within Catholic Education have come together at a major training and development initiative which encompasses the entire Catholic education sector.
To support the new initiative, a DVD and resource manual which clearly outlines the distinctive, diverse and inclusive ethos of Catholic Educationhas been produced by theConsultative Group for Catholic Education, (CGCE), for every Catholic School in Northern Ireland.
CGCE are supporting the Commission throughout the initiative and will undertake a series of indepth training workshops for every parish and school throughout October 2006.
Speaking before the conference, Bishop Donal McKeown, Chair of the Northern Ireland Commission for Catholic Education said,
